ABOUT ELCI-MONMOUTH

The ELCI is a place of both comfort and growth for students. We pride ourselves on making everyone feel at home by sharing culture and language with one another. If students are comfortable and supported, they can learn quickly. Our focus is always to help students create their own success in studying English. Students come to the ELCI knowing it is an English language school, but the mentorship and personal approach to education are what make our schools unique and wonderful.

ABOUT MONMOUTH, OREGON

Monmouth is a college town where Western Oregon University is located. The population is around 10,000 people. It is safe and people are friendly. ELCI students are welcome to join the activities and events at the university and in the community. There are also many shops and restaurants less than a 10-min walk from the ELCI.

ELCI Monmouth is right next to the campus of Western Oregon University. Our students can use the university facilities there including the library, private study rooms, and bookstore. For a small fee, students may use the gymnasium and swimming pool.

ELCI was established in Monmouth in 1986. We have a long history of helping thousands of international students from all over the world succeed in American high schools and universities. Our classes are small and each student can get individual attention from their teachers.

Full-Time English – 20 hours of English study per week.

Academic English – 25 hours of English study per week. This program includes a study skills course to better prepare students for high school or university transition.

Intensive English – 30 hours of English study per week. This program includes a study skills course as well as GED prep, TOFEL/ILETS prep, and university prep.

New Start – for students who need a “New Start” or a second chance at reaching their academic goals. Students in the New Start program can attend the ELCI for any number of reasons including a change of study environment due to bullying, learning disabilities, or just not fitting the education style of their home country. The New Start program offers more individual attention to students and offers group tutoring. The New Start program also offers a pathway to Linn-Benton Community College and our partner universities.

Head Start to High School – specifically designed to prepare students to enter American high schools in the Fall. Students learn vocabulary and listening skills specific to math, science, literature, and social studies in level-appropriate English to help them adjust to a typical American high school curriculum and culture. Students also have the opportunity to earn American high school credits while at the ELCI.

ELCI Pathways – start your studies at the ELCI to improve your English.  After ELCI you can attend one of our 9 high schools in the AEEA network or apply for free to any of our partner colleges and universities for an offer of conditional admission or direct admission. We work closely with Linn-Benton Community College and many top-ranked universities across America.
